Structural Insulated Panels
Why SIPs?

SIPs are Healthy. No CFC's, HCFC's, or formaldehyde are used in the manufacture of these SIP panels. This is improves indoor air quality especially important for those who suffer from allergies. Noise pollution is also dramatically reduced. SIPs are excellent barriers to airborne sound penetration, the result of their closed construction and extremely tight joint connections.

SIPs are Efficient. Compared to a conventional wood frame building the use of structural insulated panels or SIPs can result in a shell that has a 58% better thermal performance overall. The wall and roof panels form a continuous foam interface for maximum energy efficiency. Besides the savings in energy costs, construction costs are reduced as well. Panels are very light and easy to handle. With just a snap, the structural system, wall and roof sheathing and insulation are installed. Construction time is considerably less than conventional methods reducing labor costs.

SIPs are Disaster Resistant. In several cases where homes within close proximity to one another were leveled by tornadoes, hurricanes or earthquakes, SIP homes have been found standing. The continuous wall and roof prevents sudden surges of air pressure within the home. Furthermore, buildings constructed with SIPs are resistant to fire, impermeable to water and water vapor, and unlike wood, offers no food value to termites and other destructive insects.

SIPs are Ecologically Sound. The foam core is produced with no CO2 emissions and no gases that may affect the ozone layer. The steel and foam core of the SIP are both fully recyclable. If recycling cannot be accomplished, materials are safe to use as landfill. SIP foams are stable and will not biodegrade or create leachate or methane gas. In addition, SIP foams can be safely incinerated at regulated waste to energy facilities.
