From Matt Ross: Thank you for taking the time to read our latest newsletter. It has been an extremely busy time at Eco-$mart, with many of our customers preparing for the Florida hurricane season by purchasing their Fabric Shield and Stormcatcher storm panels and energy efficient impact windows. My recommendation for next season: start a bit earlier, as the lead times for all these products go up as the Summer progresses. Fabric Shield lead time is still four weeks, but Stormcatcher lead time has gone from four to eight weeks, and windows from four to six to eight weeks. The BIG NEWS this month, as you will read, is that Florida's Governor has just signed a bill that provides rebates to home owners purchasing solar energy systems. This is terrific news, particularly for purchasers of photvoltaic systems, who will be rebated good 30 to 40% of their purchase price of the systems ($4.00 per Watt, up to $20,000.00). Eco-$mart has a network of solar contractors who can provide turn-key systems for backup power (a good hurricane preparedness feature for the home) and year-round energy and pollution reduction. The next several months promise to be continued exciting times at Eco-$mart, as we add more new products for remodeling and building green (look for several safe room products, and min-split high efficiency a/c). Please keep checking back with us for the latest and best of what the world has to offer. Your interest and participation is making a difference. |

Governor Signs New Energy Bill
Solar Energy Shines in New Florida Bill
FlaSEIA - FLORIDA SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE REPORT - June 19, 2006 | ||||||||||||||||

Against the back drop of the future site of the United States EnviroFuels Ethanol Production Facility at the Port of Tampa, Governor Jeb Bush signed into law today the "2006 Florida Renewable Energy Technologies & Energy Efficiency Act." The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Colleen Castille welcomed the governor and other dignitaries to the signing of this momentous legislation. Hailed as a great first step toward reducing the state’s reliance on fossil fuels, Governor Bush praised legislators for producing a good piece of legislation. The governor stated that this comprehensive Energy Bill includes incentives for Floridians to help offset the rising cost of energy. In part, the bill creates the Florida Energy Incentives Program, which Governor Bush says the Sunshine State will lead the nation in solar energy. The Florida Energy Incentives Program was championed by Senator Paula Dockery (R - Lakeland) and Representative Dorothy Hukill (R - Daytona Beach Shores). Effective July 1, 2006, and extending through June 30, 2010, Florida consumers and businesses installing solar equipment, including solar photovoltaic (electricity), solar thermal (water heater) and solar thermal pool heaters, will be eligible for the state’s solar rebates program, currently budgeted for $2.5 million in the first year.

Great news for purchasers of photovoltaic systems in Florida. Rebates up to 40% of the purchase price. $4 per watt up to $20,000 for homes and $100,000 for businesses. Even without the Florida Rebate, purchasers of solar powered equipment get a rebate from the sun! They pay for themselves in a very short time by tapping a free renewable source for their power. And they reduce dependance on fossil fuels at the same time. You can't get more Eco-$mart than that!

![]() "Many Floridians are heeding the call but too many others aren't. What will it take to get everyone in harm's way to take the threat seriously? Not a direct strike, we hope."
When preparing for summer storms, thousands of people are planning evactuation routes, purchasing window protection and stocking up on items they will need if services are cut off. Many have neglected the security potential of solar powered equipment. Even a usual summer storm can turn unusually violent, with high winds and lightning that can leave your home or business powerless and without the basic necessities. Solar Power is a perfect solution. The sun is a consistant 'wireless' source of power, providing light and hot water even when the lines are down. That's Solar Security. Add pollution reduction and energy conservation and it's a win, win, win situation. So when you are preparing your home or businesss for summer storms, think Solar Security. Think Eco-$mart.
CONSUMER ALERT!
Some fraudulent installers and companies are trying to pass off window tinting as protective film. Scammers sometimes perceive buyers as vulnerable because hurricane products are most popular in areas that suffered heavy damage in a recent storm season... Homeowner Frank Morrison: "I went with the window film over the shutters because I don't really have room in my garage to store all of the aluminum panel shutters." But what the Morrison's didn't know is that window film...All window film...Is not approved for residential hurricane protection in the state of Florida. |
